With a mix of nature’s beauty and culture, you’ll capture the essence of this diverse country by seeing the Himba Tribes in Damaraland, the Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls.
This trip is for those who want to experience everything Africa has to offer

Day 1

Travelling from Cape Town, keeping an eye out for fields of Namaqualand daisies..We make a last stop for a look back at Table Mountain from across Table Bay. The spectacular mountains, orange farms and the home of the Rooibos tea farm. We stop to taste the wine along the way.

Day 2

As we travel vegetation will slowly disappear giving us our first experience of the desert that will be a daily thing for the days to come. We arrive at the banks of the Orange River, which borders South Africa and Namibia. Welcome to Namibia.

Day 3

Orange River is named after the Dutch Royal House. Its original name of Gariep simply means “river” in the indigenous KhoeKhoe language. Starting from the mountains of Lesotho the Orange River is the longest river in South Africa. A recommended experience of the river is swimming or canoeing along the river. We arrive in time to catch the sunset just over the Fish River Canyon. After walking along the rim of the canyon we sit and enjoy the sunset then head back to camp. If time allows on arrival a swim is not bad at all.

Day 4

We venture deeper into the Namib Desert. Our destination is the dune fields that cover the western reaches of the desert. Driving through the beauty of the desert with some farmlands along the way within that vastness of Namibian desert. The red sands of Sesrim welcomes us to the dunes.

Day 5

They say the early bird catches the the fattest worm. One of the early mornings activities is to climb up the dunes for an exquisite moment of the sunrise from the top of the famous Dune 45. Next we heard into Sossusvlei to walk on the pans at Sossusvlei and Deadvlei.

Day 6

Chilled day before the midday drive to join a local expert for desert excursion. Nothing beats experience as we learn from the very best of the desert. Darkness comes with its beauty as we enjoy the stargazing and some mountain zebras that come to get a drink from their own bar.

Day 7/8

We drive back to civilization. Swakopmund, a German like city accommodates us for the next two days. We cross tropic of Capricorn on our way and drive by a lagoon to see if the flamingos have a date with us. Optional activities are available through one of our trusted activities companies. Take time as well to regroup before the next chapter.

Day 9

We leave to drive to the massive granite formations of Spitzkoppe which stand 700 metres above the desert plains below. The San people rock art can be viewed within the formations. We walk with a local guide to the San’s rock art before exploring the whole place by ourselves.

Day 10

From one culture to another. Himba tribe is one of the tribes that make up the Namibian people. We enjoy the last parts of the desert as we head to our village tour to briefly interact with the Himba tribe. We learn how they run their daily lives.

DAY 11/12

Elephants, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, etc fill the safari days in Etosha National Park. Etosha is a paradise of unique game viewings. We explore the park as we make our way to the campsite. Our second day is a full day of continuing our exploration of the park.

DAY 13

All roads lead to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. A city tour and a short walk through the city centre getting more history on the foundations of Namibia.

DAY 14

Today we cross the borders into Botswana and the Kalahari Desert. We get to meet the San people living in the country of Botswana. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger—ask the San people they will tell you more about it. A few tips on the survival of the fittest and the wisest is a daily thing for them.

DAY 15

Departing Ghanzi we head towards Maun, where upon arrival in Maun you will have the opportunity to do a scenic flight over the Delta (weather permitting).

DAY 16/17

We had to Botswana where we have a mokoro experience, nature walk, safari, sunset, birds singing, lion roaring, elephants trumpeting, no light disturbance and that’s all you need to know.

DAY 18

Goodbye Moremi, hello Makgadigadi Pans and Nata Sanctuary. We have an opportunity to walk on the salt pans of Nata and feel the breeding ground for a host of water birds pelicans and flamingo. Watch the sunset over the Salt pans.

DAY 19

We are down on days as we head to Chobe National Park, the home of the elephants. We get to explore the Chobe National Park in 4×4 vehicles giving us that touch of class with the animals. A cruise on the Chobe River to give us a closer view of some of the water animals and land animals as well.

Day 20

Victoria Falls aka“Mosi-oa Tunya” (the smoke that thunders).
White water rafting, bungee jumping, lion walk, elephant ride and more—Victoria Falls has it all. Guided tour into the mighty Zambezi River. Our last group supper together.

What to bring:

  • On board the truck, you will have an assigned locker that is approximately 35 x 35 x 80 cm. You will also want a small day back to keep with you on board the truck and at activities during the day. We highly recommend you avoid hard cases. Try to use duffel bags or backpacks for safety, comfort and convenience. A money belt to be worn around your waist is always a good idea.
  • In the summer, bring light, cotton, easy to dry clothing. It will be hot. In the winter, you will want to bring a fleece jacket and wool hat as it can get cold, especially at night. Clothes in dull colors such as khaki, beige and green are best.
  • You will want to bring a good camera and binoculars to maximize your experience.
  • If you have chosen to do a tour in a tent, you will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow for sleeping. (Linens are provided by the hotels on accommodated tours.)
  • You should bring a water bottle to refill. It is recommended that you drink bottled water throughout southern Africa. We will stop at shops along the way where you will be able to purchase water and any snack items you want.
  • Hand sanitizer is a good idea.
  • A padlock for your locker is also recommended.
  •

What is provided:

  • Edutainment including a free subscription to Bush TV
  • Food for meals (any additional snacks you desire can be purchased along the way)
  • Tents, sleeping mattress
  • Entrance fee to parks

What to expect:

For camping tours, you will be asked to help set up and take down camp each day. This will include setting up your own tent as well as the communal dining area. Don’t worry, we’ll show how to do the tents and before long you will be a master!

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are always a variety-from local cuisines to international menus made by our master chefs. Dietary requirements and allergies usually can be accommodated with advance notice. Please speak to one of our representatives before booking if you have concerns.

Most campsites have laundry areas with washing sinks for laundry and running water. Some even have laundry machines for a fee or the option to send your laundry out for washing.

Before embarking on your adventure, you will need to obtain medical/ travel insurance. It is so important in the case of an emergency in a remote area to get you airlifted to the nearest hospital. You will not be allowed to proceed on the tour without proof of insurance.

Traveling conditions can be bumpy and dusty as roads through remote areas are often rough. But it’s all part of the adventure and allows you to see Africa off the beaten track.

Cellphone coverage is mainly in the main cities and small towns. Wifi though is often available at many of the camps, even deep in the bush.
